For the first time ever, 18th Ave—aka the Broadway Arts District—was shut down from NW 71st Street to NW 62nd Street to reintroduce The Ave and honor musical artists whose songs capture the spirit Commissioner Keon Hardemon hopes to revive in the community.
Not every street name comes from an actual song or album, but the lyrics in these tracks reflect the vision we’re striving for: Trick Love The Kids, Peace in Da Hood, We the Best, Closer to My Dreams, and more.
It was a celebration of culture, music, and the community coming together to reclaim the Ave.
